The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Express Anger Over Sizing Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has altered its size classifications for women's and children's garments failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Response
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to review their products and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Modifications
Previously, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, located in England, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
